WASHINGTON – In case you missed it, Senator Maggie Hassan, a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, was on Fox & Friends First this morning, where she discussed the early release of convicted American Taliban fighter John Walker Lindh who is being released from federal prison today after serving 17 years of his 20 year-sentence.
Last week, Senator Hassan and Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) sent a letter to the Acting Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons Hugh Hurwitz expressing concern over the anticipated early release of John Walker Lindh and other terrorist offenders, particularly their concern that the Bureau of Prisons does not seem to have the tools or programs to assess or mitigate the threat of recidivism among terrorist offenders when they are released.
