Senator Hassan Applauds Army Corps of Engineers’ Fiscal Commitment to Hampton Harbor Emergency Dredging

WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan today issued the following statement after the Army Corps of Engineers’ released its 2018 fiscal year work plan that includes $275,000 to support moving forward with emergency dredging at Hampton Harbor.

“I applaud the Army Corps of Engineers for heeding our request to include funding in its 2018 fiscal year work plan to support emergency dredging at Hampton Harbor,” Senator Hassan said. “Hampton Harbor plays a vital role in driving economic growth on the Seacoast and throughout the state, and emergency dredging is critical to strengthening our water infrastructure and public safety. I will continue working to ensure that this dredging happens as quickly as possible so that Hampton Harbor can remain operational now and into the future.”

Senator Hassan and the rest of the Congressional Delegation urged the Trump Administration to prioritize emergency dredging for Hampton Harbor in the Army Corps of Engineers’ yearly work plan. Additionally, Senator Hassan helped secure this critical New Hampshire priority in the bipartisan America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018, which passed out of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.
