Senator Hassan Congratulates Graduates at Rockingham County Drug Court Commencement

Senator Highlights Importance of Drug Courts to Combating Substance Misuse Crisis

ROCKINGHAM – Today, Senator Maggie Hassan delivered remarks at the Rockingham County Drug Court Commencement, where she congratulated graduates and highlighted the critical role drug courts play in helping to combat the heroin, fentanyl, and opioid crisis devastating communities across New Hampshire.

“Today marks an important step forward in your recovery and it helps set an example that recovery can be possible,” Senator Hassan told the graduates. “Your success is critical to the success of your communities and our entire state. I urge you to stay strong in your efforts.

“During my time as Governor, I was proud to support drug courts in New Hampshire, including signing a bipartisan bill to expand drug courts statewide,” Senator Hassan added. “As today’s graduates make clear, drug courts play a key role in helping those battling addiction access treatment and recovery services, and helping people return to their communities as contributing members of society.”

In addition to expanding drug courts statewide during her time as Governor of New Hampshire, Senator Hassan continues to advocate for drug courts in the Senate and is working to strengthen prevention, treatment, recovery, and support for law enforcement.
