ROCHESTER – Senator Maggie Hassan today visited Safran Aerospace, where she discussed with Safran leadership and employees the company’s workforce development program that helps prepare students for jobs in the 21^st century economy at employers like Safran. The Senator met with employees of the company who have participated in the program, and discussed her efforts to help strengthen workforce development and job training efforts. The Senator also commended the company for its work to equip U.S. military aircraft to carry out vital missions across the globe.

“Safran Aerospace is an innovative business that is helping to drive our economy forward and create good jobs in the Granite State while also developing technologies that are vital to our national defense and the safety of the American people,” Senator Hassan said. “Through a workforce development program that equips students with the skills they need to compete for jobs at companies like Safran Aerospace, the company is helping to expand economic opportunity for hard-working Granite Staters. I will continue supporting efforts like these so that our businesses have the strong workforce they need to thrive and so that all of our people who work hard have the opportunity to get ahead and stay ahead.

As part of its workforce development program, Safran Aerospsace teamed up with Spaulding High School and Great Bay Community College in order to help students better transition into the workforce by allowing them to intern at the company while taking classes in manufacturing. In the State Senate and as Governor, Hassan also supported efforts at Great Bay Community College to partner with Safran to strengthen workforce development. As part of her efforts to bolster workforce development, Senator Hassan will reintroduce the Gateway to Careers Act, which supports career pathways strategies that combine work, education, and support services to help individuals earn industry-recognized credentials and help ensure that innovative businesses have the workforce they need to thrive.
