Senator Hassan Highlights Key Bipartisan Priorities to Support Innovative New Hampshire Businesses at Business and Industry Association Event in Manchester

MANCHESTER – Senator Maggie Hassan today highlighted her key bipartisan priorities to support innovative New Hampshire Businesses at the Business and Industry Association (BIA) luncheon.

“It is always a pleasure to catch up with members of the Business and Industry Association and to hear from New Hampshire businesses about their priorities for moving our state forward.” Senator Hassan said. “One of my top priorities is supporting the hard work of these innovative businesses, and to make our state an even more attractive place to grow and start a business. I am committed to emulating the example that New Hampshire’s businesses and citizens set every day – putting differences aside to get results.”

As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction over matters related taxation, trade, and tariffs, Senator Hassan joined in introducing  bipartisan legislation to relieve businesses and consumers of the burden caused by the Trump Administration’s sweeping tariffs on imported steel and aluminum from Canada and the European Union. Senator Hassan is also focused on protecting New Hampshire businesses from the Supreme Court’s backward ruling in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. that requires New Hampshire businesses to collect sales tax for other states. Earlier this year, the Senator reintroduced the bipartisan Gateway to Careers Act to provide grants to support partnerships between community or technical colleges and workforce development partners to strengthen New Hampshire’s workforce.
