Senator Hassan Kicks Off Small Business Week at Great North Aleworks in Manchester

Senator Hassan Announces That She's Cosponsoring Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act to Support New Hampshire's Growing Craft Brewing Industry

MANCHESTER - Today, Senator Maggie Hassan kicked off Small Business Weekat Great North Aleworks, where she toured the facility, met with employees, and highlighted the importance of New Hampshire's small businesses to job creation and economic growth. The Senator also announced that she is cosponsoring the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act to support New Hampshire's growing craft brewing industry.

"Small businesses like Great North Aleworks and New Hampshire's growing craft brewing industry are an important economic driver for our state, and I'm proud to cosponsor legislation that will lower taxes and cut red tape to allow this industry to continue to grow and thrive," said Senator Hassan. "During Small Business Week, and every week, I encourage Granite Staters to support our local economy by shopping at small businesses throughout the state."

The Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act is a bipartisan bill that would lower the federal excise tax on the brewing industry and streamline outdated and burdensome federal regulations on the brewing of beer and cider, winemaking, and distilling of spirits.

As a member of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Senator Hassan is focused oncritical economic priorities for New Hampshire's small businesses. Recently, Senator Hassan cosponsored the bipartisan MAIN STREET Act to ensure that small businesses have the tools necessary to better protect their digital assets from cyber security threats.
