CONCORD – Senator Maggie Hassan today met with New Hampshire National Guard (NHNG) leadership to discuss their legislative priorities and reaffirm her commitment to providing the NHNG with the support and resources they need.
“The brave men and women of the New Hampshire National Guard play a vital role in keeping our state and country safe, secure, and free, and I’m grateful in particular for Brig. Gen. Mikolaities’s focus on combating the opioid crisis in New Hampshire,” Senator Hassan said. “I look forward to continue working together to build a stronger, safer Granite State, and I’ll keep fighting to ensure that the New Hampshire National Guard has the resources and support it needs to carry out its vital missions as effectively as possible.”
Senator Hassan recently voted to approve a bipartisan funding bill that includes $12 million for the Pembroke New Hampshire National Guard Readiness Center, which Senator Hassan helped authorized earlier in the year in the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act. Senator Hassan also spoke out in August against President Trump’s decision to freeze pay for federal workers, including the men and women at Pease Air National Guard Base.
