WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan today met with President Trump’s nominee to serve as Chair of the Federal Reserve, Jay Powell, where she highlighted the importance of expanding middle class opportunity and driving economic growth to help all hard-working Americans get ahead and stay ahead.

“I appreciated the opportunity to meet with Federal Reserve Chair nominee Jay Powell to discuss the role of the Federal Reserve in helping drive economic growth that benefits hard-working people and innovative businesses. During our meeting, we discussed the need for fiscal responsibility in our government and agreed on the importance of workforce training and retraining in order to expand opportunity, fill job openings, and grow wages. The policies of the Federal Reserve impact all of our people and businesses, and I will continue evaluating Mr. Powell’s experience and record for the position.”
