WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) emphasized the importance of the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) in spurring New Hampshire’s economic development with leaders of the NBRC. Senator Hassan yesterday met with Rich Grogan, Executive Director of NBRC, and Chris Saunders, Federal Co-Chair of NBRC. The NBRC provides critical infrastructure investments and economic development assistance to New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and New York.
“The Northern Border Regional Commission supports local projects in New Hampshire that drive economic development in our rural communities,” said Senator Hassan. “It was great to meet with the leadership of the Northern Border Regional Commission and talk about how we can continue to work together to support growth in New Hampshire’s rural communities.”
Senator Hassan has been a supporter of the NBRC, helping secure $41 million for the NBRC in the bipartisan government funding package signed into law last week, and she supports efforts to increase funding for the NBRC. Earlier this year, Senator Hassan, along with the rest of the New Hampshire Congressional delegation, applauded $3 million in federal funds recently awarded to support the NBRC’s efforts to foster economic development across the states of New Hampshire, Maine, New York and Vermont. Funding for the NBRC supports rural businesses, outdoor recreation, workforce development, and economic development initiatives across the region.
