Senator Hassan Meets with Secretary of Health and Human Services Nominee Tom Price

WASHINGTON -- Today, Senator Maggie Hassan met with Congressman Tom Price, who is President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. As a member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Senator Hassan will participate in a hearing on Rep. Price's nomination.

"Today, I sat down with Congressman Price to learn more about his vision for the Department of Health and Human Services and to express my concern about efforts to take away health insurance coverage from tens of thousands of Granite Staters and destabilize health insurance markets.

"During our conversation, I emphasized to Congressman Price the importance of New Hampshire's bipartisan, business-backed Medicaid expansion plan, which is helping to provide quality, affordable health care to Granite Staters - including substance abuse treatment coverage that is critical to combating the heroin, fentanyl and opioid crisis. And I also conveyed how essential it is to protect access to affordable family planning and reproductive health services for women. The American people deserve more information about how Congressman Price would approach these critical issues and more as Secretary, and I will work to get answers during the hearing process."
