All Granite Staters and Americans Need to Know that They Can Still Get Covered at HealthCare.Gov Today
WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement on a Texas court decision that would strike down the entire Affordable Care Act. The ruling will not be in effect as it is appealed.
“This decision would raise health care costs and take away coverage from millions of Americans if it’s not overturned. It would mean insurance companies could once again deny coverage for pre-existing conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or cancer. It would allow insurance companies to charge women more. And insurance companies would no longer be required to cover essential health benefits such as prescription drugs, maternity care, or substance use disorder treatment. It would also completely repeal Medicaid expansion, devastating our efforts to combat the opioid crisis.
“Make no mistake, this ruling is the result of a partisan legal effort by Republican Attorneys General across the country – with the backing of the Trump Administration – to take away health care coverage, and we will fight this awful decision with everything we’ve got.
“Today is the last day of open enrollment on HealthCare.gov and all Granite Staters and Americans need to know that they can still get covered while we work to stop these absurd attacks on Americans’ health care.”
