Senator Hassan Statement on Additional Resources to Combat Substance Misuse in Government Funding Agreement

WASHINGTON - Senator Maggie Hassan issued the following statement on the government funding agreement that includes an increase in funding to combat the heroin, fentanyl, and opioid crisis:

"We must continue working across all levels of government to provide more resources to strengthen prevention, treatment, recovery, and law enforcement efforts. Last week, I joined a number of my colleagues in calling for increased funding to combat the opioid epidemic in negotiations over the government funding bill, and I am encouraged that this agreement provides additional resources to support those on the front lines of this crisis. While this increased funding is a step in the right direction, I will continue working with members of both parties to secure additional resources to help save lives and turn the tide of this crisis."

Last week, Senators Hassan and Shaheen joined Senator Warren and a number of their colleagues in sending a letter urging Senate and House leadership to increase funding to combat the opioid epidemic as part of a government funding agreement.
