WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement after Chief Judge Patti Saris of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts issued an order temporarily protecting members of New Hampshire’s Indonesian community from deportation:
“Today’s court order is a significant development that will prevent members of New Hampshire’s Indonesian community from being deported while they seek a permanent resolution to their status. Many of these families fled religious persecution in Indonesia, and it is wrong that the Trump Administration has been prioritizing them for deportation. I will continue to work closely with the Congressional delegation and all stakeholders to ensure that these Granite Staters have the long-term protections they need.”
