Senator Hassan Statement on “Extremely Troubling” Office of Special Counsel Report on the Manchester VAMC

WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement on the Office of Special Counsel’s report on the Manchester VAMC:

“The Office of Special Counsel’s extremely troubling report reinforces that the VA failed to take seriously whistleblowers’ warnings regarding quality of care issues at the Manchester VAMC until the concerns were exposed by the media. This report also raises serious concerns about the VA system as a whole, and whether it adequately addresses whistleblower concerns. The VA must take additional steps to hold accountable members of VA leadership, both in Washington and the New England region, for their completely inadequate response to the concerns expressed by the whistleblowers and other providers. I will continue to work with our congressional delegation to hold the VA accountable and to ensure that all of our veterans receive the care that they need and have earned.”
