WASHINGTON – Today, Senator Maggie Hassan issued the following statement on the four-week House Continuing Resolution:
“We are well within reach of a bipartisan agreement that would give long-term stability to our budget and our military, and also provide significant additional funding to combat the opioid crisis, address the Children’s Health Insurance Program, fund community health centers, and protect Dreamers. As Senators from both political parties have said: we should not kick the can down the road with another four-week continuing resolution. Now is the time for negotiation and compromise between all parties to continue, and for the President to stop blocking efforts to reach a bipartisan deal. Congress should not go anywhere until we get a long-term deal done.
“I will join my colleagues – both Republicans and Democrats – in opposing this four-week funding bill, and I will continue working for common-sense compromises that bring our country the security and stability we need.”
