Senator Hassan Statement on Impeachment of President Trump

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to impeach President Trump:

“The insurrection that occurred last week will be remembered as one of the grimmest days in the history of our democracy – and the President must be held accountable for spurring this violent attack. The Senate needs to move quickly to take up this trial.

“As we seek to hold President Trump accountable for his actions, we must also forge ahead on our bipartisan efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic by strengthening the public health response, fixing vaccine distribution, and helping create jobs. We face enormous challenges as a country right now, but we can get through them if we recommit to our shared American values.”
