WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement today after Governor Chris Sununu signed a bill to reauthorize New Hampshire’s Medicaid expansion program:
“During my time as Governor – in 2014 and again 2016 – we came together across party lines to establish and reauthorize Medicaid expansion because it was right for the health and well-being of Granite Staters and for our economy. Medicaid expansion has provided more than 50,000 hard-working Granite Staters with the peace of mind and security that comes with quality, affordable health insurance, while also playing an essential role in our efforts to combat the fentanyl, heroin, and opioid epidemic that continues to devastate communities across our state. I thank the General Court and Governor Sununu for continuing this important program, demonstrating continued bipartisan recognition that Medicaid expansion is working for our state. I will keep fighting to protect this critical program from attacks, lower the cost of health care, take on big pharma, and ensure that all hard-working Granite Staters have quality, affordable health care.”
