WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan issued the following statement today as oral arguments began in Texas v. United States, a partisan lawsuit brought by Republican Attorneys General across the country – that has the support of the Trump Administration – seeking to eliminate protections for pre-existing conditions:
“If the Trump Administration gets its way, this lawsuit would strip away critical consumer protections, including safeguards for people with pre-existing conditions like asthma, diabetes, or cancer. The Administration’s position would let insurance companies charge unaffordable premiums for people with pre-existing conditions or even deny them coverage altogether. This is unacceptable, and I will keep fighting back against reckless attempts to strip away vital health care coverage that people in New Hampshire and across the country need to lead healthy, productive lives.”
