WASHINGTON - Senator Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after President Trump signed the Fiscal Year 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law, including provisions authored by Senator Jeanne Shaheen creating the first-ever nationwide health study on the effects of perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) in drinking water.
“The creation of a nationwide health study on the effects of PFCs in drinking water is a critically important step in ensuring that communities throughout the Seacoast and across the country have the information they need to keep families safe and to protect public health,” Senator Hassan said. “I was proud to join Senator Shaheen and members of both parties in supporting the inclusion of this provision in the defense authorization bill, and I remain committed to working with the rest of the Congressional Delegation and concerned families along the Seacoast in addressing contaminated drinking water and resulting public health and environmental concerns.”
