Senator Hassan Statement on Senate Approval of Government Funding Agreement with Additional Resources to Combat Substance
WASHINGTON - Today, Senator Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after the Senate sent the government funding agreement to President Trump's desk, which includes an increase in funding to combat the heroin, fentanyl, and opioid crisis:
"I am encouraged that this government funding agreement provides additional resources to support those on the front lines combating the heroin, fentanyl, and opioid crisis in New Hampshire and across the nation. However, while this increased funding is a step in the right direction, it cannot make up for the harm that Trumpcare would do to our efforts to combat substance misuse. By ending Medicaid expansion and undermining the requirement that insurance companies must cover substance use disorder and behavioral health services, Trumpcare will dramatically hurt our ability to combat this epidemic and help save lives. I will work in the Senate to defeat this harmful Trumpcare bill that would negatively impact millions of hard-working Americans and fight to get more resources to those battling the substance misuse crisis on the front lines."
