Senator Hassan Statement on Special Counsel Mueller Indictment of Russian Nationals and Entities for Interfering in 2016 Elections

WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement today after Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities for interfering in the 2016 elections:

“Our democracy belongs to us. These indictments make clear that we must act to stop Russian efforts to divide and weaken us as a nation, and reaffirm how critically important it is that Special Counsel Mueller has full independence to continue following the facts of this investigation wherever they may lead. Russia must be held accountable for these egregious attacks on our democracy, and I will continue working with members of both parties to get the truth for the American people and protect against meddling in the 2018 and 2020 elections.”
