WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked the Trump administration from ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:
“The Supreme Court made the right decision today in upholding the DACA program, which ensures that young people who were brought to the U.S. as children can continue to live and work here in the country we all call home. These young people have contributed enormously to our communities and economy, and they are vital to our future. Allowing the administration to capriciously end the program for partisan purposes would have needlessly upended hundreds of thousands of lives and hurt our economy. Unfortunately, Dreamers are still potentially vulnerable to further attacks from the administration, which is why Congress must pass the bipartisan DREAM Act to give these young people a path to citizenship.”
