Senator Hassan Statement on the Passing of Senator Feinstein

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) released the following statement on the passage of Senator Dianne Feinstein:

“Senator Feinstein was a trailblazer who believed in the promise of our democracy, striving to work together with others regardless of differences in order to make a positive impact. From pushing for common sense gun safety reforms to standing up for LGBT equality, she never let up in working to do right by her constituents and the American people.

“She was a dignified Senator who worked hard and cared deeply about her colleagues, and it was a privilege to have her as my friend. The longest-serving female Senator in U.S. history, she set an example that guided me and many of my fellow women colleagues – and inspired women and girls throughout our country to serve. When I joined the Senate, she welcomed me and helped me to develop my own relationships with members on both sides of the aisle, in particular through leading bipartisan dinners with the women of the Senate.

“Senator Feinstein showed us what you are supposed to do to serve your constituents, your state, and your country as a United States Senator. My prayers are with her family, loved ones, and staff today. May her memory be a blessing.
