Senator Hassan Statement on Trump Administration Court Filing Seeking Repeal of Health Care Law

WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after the Trump Administration formally declared its position that the entire Affordable Care Act should be struck down in a new court filing. The Department of Justice announced it was changing its position in March.

“The Trump Administration is once again seeking to take away health care from millions of Americans, which would dramatically raise health costs and threaten the health and well-being of people across our country,” Senator Hassan said. “By arguing that the entire Affordable Care Act should be struck down, this Administration is seeking to repeal protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions, end Medicaid expansion, and eliminate the requirement that insurers must cover prescription drugs, maternity care, mental health care, substance use disorder treatment and so much more. I urge all Granite Staters and Americans who have spoken out against previous attempts to strip away health care to continue sharing your stories, and I will keep standing with you as we fight to stop these reckless and harmful efforts.”
