WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan today released the following statement after EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt signed a proposed rule to begin repealing the Clean Power Plan:
“Combating the very real threats of climate change and building a stronger, more affordable energy future are economic imperatives for New Hampshire and America,” Senator Hassan said. “I am extremely concerned with the Trump Administration’s backward decision to begin repealing the Clean Power Plan, which is critical to reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and helping our citizens, businesses, and economy thrive. New Hampshire has been a leader in working with other neighbors, in the Northeast and in Canada, to fight pollution and climate change. But the health of our citizens and the health of our environment suffers because upwind polluters won’t clean up their act. Unfortunately, this is just the latest attempt by the Trump Administration to put corporate special interests before our environment and the health and economic well-being of our people, and I will continue to fight back against any effort to roll back important environmental protections.”
