Senator Previously Called on Trump Administration to Extend Comment Period for Proposed Domestic Gag Rule
WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan issued the following statement today after the Trump Administration released its domestic gag rule on the Title X family planning program. The domestic gag rule on the Title X program will undermine women’s access to critical health services at providers such as Planned Parenthood.
“By attacking providers such as Planned Parenthood, the Trump Administration is once again outrageously restricting women’s access to critical reproductive health services and threatening the health and economic well-being of millions of women and families across the country,” Senator Hassan said. “Women have the right to make their own decisions about if or when to start a family, and they should be able to visit providers of their choice who understand their health care needs. This domestic gag rule undermines women’s constitutionally protected rights, and I will keep doing everything I can to fight back against the Trump Administration’s partisan attempts to undermine women’s reproductive health care.”
Last year, Senator Hassan called on the Trump Administration to extend the comment period for the proposed rule. Earlier this month, Senator Hassan and a number of her colleagues raised concerns about the “unconventional and nontransparent” review process for the proposed rule.
