Senator Hassan to Oppose Rex Tillerson's Nomination for Secretary of State

WASHINGTON - Today, in advance of voting on a procedural measure regarding the nomination of Rex Tillerson to serve as Secretary of State, Senator Maggie Hassan announced that she will oppose Mr. Tillerson's nomination.

"I remain very concerned about Rex Tillerson's strong connections to Russian President Vladimir Putin and record of undermining efforts to combat climate change, and I will oppose Mr. Tillerson's nomination to serve as Secretary of State. I also have deep concerns about whether Mr. Tillerson will stand up to President Trump on policies that would undermine our national security and diplomatic interests. Mr. Tillerson owes it to the American people to clearly state his views on the President's un-American immigration executive order that will make us less safe and runs counter to the fundamental values that make America the greatest country on earth."
