WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) will serve as Ranking Member of the Joint Economic Committee in the 119th Congress. Created in 1946, this committee consists of members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Senator Hassan has served on the committee since 2017. She will also serve on the Senate’s Finance Committee; Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee; and Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
“We need to bring down costs for Granite Staters and Americans, and that will be my focus in my role as Ranking Member of the Joint Economic Committee,” said Senator Hassan. “Through this committee, we can build support for commonsense ways to lower costs and bring forward new ideas that will make the cost of living affordable again. As always, I will follow the example of the people of New Hampshire who, when faced with challenges, seek common ground and use common sense to solve problems.”
