MANCHESTER - Today, U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan visited the Manchester Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, where she discussed challenges and upcoming projects with staff, and highlighted her commitment to ensuring that veterans and their families receive the support and resources they need and deserve.
"Veterans in the Granite State and across the nation have bravely sacrificed in defense of our freedoms, and we must do everything that we can to ensure that they and their families receive the full care and support they deserve," Senator Hassan said. "The Manchester VA Medical Center is playing an important role in those efforts, providing a variety of critical health care services to those in need, but we know that we must do more to ensure that our veterans and their families can lead healthy, productive lives. It is a disservice to our courageous veterans to not give them the full care and support they have earned, and I will continue working at the federal level to ensure that resources are appropriately distributed to provide better care for our veterans and their families."
Senator Hassan has long been an advocate for service members, veterans and their families, including working to ensure continuity of care for New Hampshire National Guard members through care coordination programs and enhancing efforts to support veteran hiring. As Governor, Senator Hassan sent a letter to Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Robert McDonald, calling for regular updates on efforts to shorten VA wait times at all VA medical centers that provide care to New Hampshire veterans.
