DOVER – Senator Maggie Hassan visited Vishay, a global semiconductor and electronic components provider, to highlight the impact of the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 – which Senator Hassan helped introduce and the President recently signed into law. The law will support supply chains, lower costs, and help America outcompete countries like China by investing in research and manufacturing here at home, especially for semiconductors. Vishay’s Dover facility produces inductors and transformers for various high reliability end applications.
“It was great to visit Vishay to see the work that that they are doing and its impact on our economy here in New Hampshire and across the country,” said Senator Hassan. “The innovative work of Vishay and so many companies in New Hampshire is part of why I joined with my colleagues to pass the bipartisan innovation and competition bill into law, which will help America outcompete China and protect our economic and national security. I look forward to seeing all the ways our bill will help New Hampshire businesses and lead to lower costs.”
“The meeting with Senator Hassan was productive. The largest challenge we face at our Vishay Dover plant is recruiting unskilled and skilled Production Associates. The provisions of the Chips and Science Act to expand workforce training programs and bolster the capabilities of the NH Manufacturing Extension Partnership will help alleviate this challenge. We also appreciated learning more about the Act and understanding how it will benefit the Vishay as a whole,” said Dave Moore, Operations Manager at Vishay’s Dover facility.
Senator Hassan joined a bipartisan group of colleagues in first introducing the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, and has met with New Hampshire businesses to discuss how the law will support American manufacturing and help America outcompete countries like China. New Hampshire business leaders recently applauded Senator Hassan’s leadership on the bill. The bill is part of Senator Hassan’s ongoing work to support innovative businesses, and the Inflation Reduction Act that was recently signed into law includes Senator Hassan’s bipartisan measure to double the research and development (R&D) tax credit for small businesses and startups.
