WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan today joined members from both parties in voting to reject President Trump’s emergency declaration that would take funding from critical military construction projects in order to build a wall at the southern border.
“Today’s vote demonstrates the strong bipartisan opposition to President Trump’s unconstitutional emergency declaration,” Senator Hassan said. “By threatening funding for critical priorities such as drug interdiction efforts and military construction projects, including ones at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and for the New Hampshire National Guard, this emergency declaration would hurt our national security and our troops’ ability to do their jobs. I urge the President to heed bipartisan calls from Congress to put the safety and security of the American people before partisan politics."
