Senator Maggie Hassan Statement on the Confirmation of Former Senator Dan Coats to Serve as Director of National Intelligence

WASHINGTON - Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement after voting to confirm Senator Dan Coats as Director of National Intelligence:

"The Director of National Intelligence is a critical position that manages the entire intelligence community, and given the vast number of national security threats that our country faces on a daily basis, it is of the upmost importance that we fill this position without delay. Director Coats is highly qualified for the position, having served our nation in the Army, as Ambassador to Germany, and as a member of the Senate Intelligence committee, and I look forward to working with him in his new role as Director of National Intelligence to keep New Hampshire and America safe. Going forward, I will also focus on ensuring that Director Coats stands up to the Trump Administration and insists that the President makes decisions based on intelligence, not politics."
