(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) have issued the following statements following the Trump administration’s nomination of Manchester Police Chief Nick Willard to serve as U.S. Marshal:
“Chief Willard has done an outstanding job leading the Manchester PD and I’m very pleased that he’s been nominated to serve as the U.S. Marshal for New Hampshire,” said Shaheen. “Willard’s extensive experience as chief of police of New Hampshire’s largest city makes him a particularly qualified candidate for this position. On a daily basis, he has seen the devastation of the opioid epidemic and implemented successful initiatives with state and federal agencies, as well as community partners, that have saved lives. I will urge fellow senators to support and quickly approve Willard’s nomination, so that he can begin the important work at hand. I also want to thank Marshal Dave Cargill for his distinguished service in this role and his dedication to addressing the many other challenges affecting our state.”
“Chief Willard has dedicated his career to keeping our communities safe, especially as our state works to combat, and ultimately reverse, the devastating opioid crisis,” said Hassan. “From defending our nation in the Air Force to his decades of service on the Manchester Police Force, Chief Willard has demonstrated steadfast leadership that makes him an outstanding choice for the position of U.S. Marshal for New Hampshire. I am proud to support Chief Willard’s nomination for this position and look forward to continue working with him to keep New Hampshire and America safe, secure, and free. I also want to thank U.S. Marshal David Cargill for his dedicated and outstanding service on behalf of the people of our state.”
