Shaheen, Hassan Laud Senate Committee Advancement of Chief William Hart for U.S. Marshal for District of New Hampshire

(Washington, DC) - U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) praised the advancement of Chief William Hart’s nomination out of the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier today to be United States Marshal for the District of New Hampshire. The next step in the process is consideration of his nomination by the full U.S. Senate. 

Hart served as chief of Londonderry police from 2009 to 2022 and was previously a captain with the department. Prior to his time with the Londonderry Police Department, he served as Rockingham County Attorney from 1995 to 1999. Hart was also a prosecutor and is a Marine Corps veteran. 

“We offer our sincerest congratulations to Chief Hart on the advancement of his nomination for U.S. Marshal. We are pleased to see the swath of support from both Democrats and Republicans on the Committee, which should come as no surprise to those who know him and are familiar with his decades of public service and experience in law enforcement. His tenure as the Chief of Police for the Londonderry PD, coupled with his experience as a prosecutor and his status as a Marine Corps veteran prove his devotion to upholding the law and his dedication to pursuing equal justice for all,” said Senators Shaheen and Hassan. “Chief Hart has exemplified the type of leadership and experience necessary to succeed as a U.S. Marshal.
