Senator Hassan Questions CMS Administrator Verma on Pharma Scheme to Avoid Paying out Drug Discounts

Senator Maggie Hassan questioned Seema Verma, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), about how to prevent big pharmaceutical companies from misclassifying their drugs as ‘generic’ so that the companies can pay out less in the drug discounts mandated under the Medicaid rebate program.
